Dr. Olena E. Fialko of Institute of Archaeology of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in her recently published work “Scythian Female Warriors in the South of Eastern Europe” wrote that archaeological excavations conducted in the second half of the 20th century in Southern Ukraine showed that women carried arms and participated in armed conflicts like men. “For this reason they were buried the same way as male warriors. Recent archaeological findings show that in Scythian times female graves with weapons were widely spread throughout south area of Eastern Europe. They are known in the Dnieper Forest-steppe, and the Lower Don… The graves of female warriors constitute the quarter of the total number of Scythian graves… That means that every fourth Scythian warrior of Northern Pontic Area was woman. More than 270 female warriors’ graves were found on the territory of European Scythia, and particular in the south area of Ukraine. The Amazons’ anthropologic type as well as their funeral ceremonies was identical to those of the rest of Scythian population.” There is a representation of an Amazon Female Warrior in Battle on the famous golden scabbard found in Ukraine. There is a great chance that the battle took place in the territory of present-day Ukraine between the armies of two famous kings of antiquity. The “Cradle of Civilizations” book makes a suggestion that has never been made before in that aspect. Little known facts about the Amazons and the origin of their movement – in the book “Royal Scythia, Greece, Kyiv Rus“.
