Per Wikipedia, David Lynch (January 20, 1946 – January 15, 2025) was an American filmmaker, visual artist, musician, and actor. Widely considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, Lynch was often called a “visionary” and was acclaimed for films often distinguished by their surrealist and experimental qualities. Lynch and Mark Frost created the ABC series Twin Peaks (1990–91), for which he received five Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

David Lynch visited Ukraine twice – in 2009 and 2017. During his first visit, he traveled to Boyarka where he planted trees in a newly-created grove that was named in his honor.

He also met with Ukraine’s veterans to introduce his program to help relieve post-traumatic stress disorder.

In February of 2022, the same day Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, David Lynch used his daily report on YouTube to send a stern and emotionally charged message to Vladimir Putin warning the Russia’s dicator that “death and destruction” will inevitably come for him because “what you sow you shall reap.”

“Mr. Putin, we are as human beings charged as to how we treat our fellow man,” Lynch said. “And there is a law of nature, a hard and fast law for which there are no loopholes and no escaping it, and this law is what you sow you shall reap. And right now Mr. Putin you are sowing death and destruction. It’s all on you. The Ukrainians didn’t attack your country. You went in and attacked their country. All this death and destruction is going to come back and visit you, and in this big picture we are involved in, there is an infinite amount of time, life after life after life, for you to reap what you are sowing.”

During 2017 visit, David Lynch had an opportunity to hear a theme from Twin Pix performed on Ukrainian national instument bandura:
