Trump blaming Ukraine for starting the war with Russia is akin to Stalin blaming Poland for starting WW2

Feb. 19, 2025, NBC News: “President Donald Trump suggested Tuesday that Ukraine was responsible for Russia’s invasion of the country three years ago, arguing Kyiv could have made a deal to avoid the conflict. “You should have never started it,” Trump said of Ukraine while criticizing President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who had expressed concern that his country was not included in talks between the U.S. and Russia in Saudi Arabia.”

The parallels to this kind of logic are impossible to miss: Germany invaded Poland in 1939 but blamed Poland for starting the war, and it remained a Hitler talking point for years. Russia invaded Ukraine but blamed Ukraine for starting the war, and it remained a Putin talking point for years. And now Donald Trump repeats it.

Some popular comments on Social media need to be quoted:

“Rapist says Ukraine shouldn’t have worn a short dress. It’s a rapist logic. “She started it because she was dressing sexy, so rape is justified. Stupid sexy Ukraine. Showing off her fertile fields like some kind of a slut.”

It’s more like “she shouldn’t have resisted since she knows how much stronger I am.”

Give Ukraine a ridiculous deal to take their mineral rights, Ukraine obviously refuses, and he uses that as a pedestal to say “I tried, but they weren’t cooperative!”

I never could have imagined my opinion of him would go lower, but this interview is shocking. The hatred for Ukrainians, and beaming admiration for Putin… Americans need to get real. The reason he thinks Ukrainians should have just rolled over and accepted dictatorship is because he expects the same from Americans. That world of secret policies, arrests for political comments, and total locked-out poverty if you aren’t in the oligarch class…. it’s coming. That’s what he wants. That’s why he hates people fighting for democracy.

The world has changed, and everyone needs to snap out of denial and fight.

‘Why does Ukraine have a third of the population of Russia and a thirtieth the area, and a history of having its resources scooped away or starvation-induced by directives from Moscow? Are they stupid?’

“Our president can’t bring himself to criticize a former KGB agent, dictator, and killer who has brutally invaded and committed war crimes on his neighbor. He blames the victim. That is who our purportedly patriotic president is.”

“Roosevelt to Churchill: Britain must explain where our money went or return it. You have been there for three years. You should have finished it in three years. You shouldn’t have started this. You could make a deal. Your country lies in ruins. If Hitler wanted, he would have bombed London not by 20, but by all 100%.”

Trump-Putin Pact resembling Molotov-Rinnentrop Pact seems to be taking place >
