In an attempt to rewrite and appropriate the history of Kyiv Rus, the Muscovites have insistently portrayed Kyiv rulers as bearded men. Take a look at their portrayal of Yaroslav the Wise for example. Meanwhile, even the original stamp of Yaroslav mentioned at the beginning of that Wiki article shows him as a man without a beard but with a mustache.
